Today the ruins of Philippi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, include the prison traditionally held to be Paul's, the basilica, and the ancient forum. Thessaloniki, where Paul preached in the synagogue for three Sabbaths, became a thriving centre of early Christianity and the church there received two of Paul's most encouraging letters.

Athens & the Areopagus — Paul Among the Philosophers

In Athens, Paul stood before the Areopagus — Mars Hill — and preached to the philosophers of the city about the "unknown God" they worshipped in ignorance, proclaiming the God who "made the world and everything in it." The Areopagus, a rocky outcrop below the Acropolis, remains one of the most powerful sites of Christian pilgrimage in Greece, where the Gospel met the intellectual world of the ancient Greeks.
